Duralast Brand

Duralast® is manufactured by Sun Pharmaceuticals. Its active compound is Dapoxetine, a short-acting serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI).

Indications:

- premature ejaculation (when man is unable to delay or control ejaculation); in severe cases, ejaculation occurs before penetration.

MOA (mechanism of action):

Dapoxetine is an antidepressant, that is recommended as the first line therapy of PE. It increases the activity of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that is involved in passing messages between nerve cells, including those that result in ejaculation. Enhanced activity of serotonin aids in increasing the time it takes to ejaculate and improves control over the ejaculation.

Dosage

Swallow a pill whole with a drink of water.

Take one pill of Duralast® orally 1-3 hours prior sexual activity.

Take Duralast® not more than once every 24 hours.

Duralast® treatment with your doctor after the first 4 weeks or after 6 doses to see whether you should continue treatment.

If treatment is continued, discuss this with doctor every 6 months.

Missing a dose

Duralast® is used only when needed, therefore missed dosages are not relevant. Do not exceed the doctor's recommended dose. Do not take a double dose.

Overdose

If you take an overdose of Duralast®, you should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Storage

Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F) and away from excess moisture and heat. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date. Keep out of the reach of children.

Side effects

The most common side effects associated with Duralast® are:

• feeling dizzy
• headache
• feeling sick
• feeling irritable
• feeling numb
• sweating
• flushing
• diarrhea
• constipation
• stomach pain
• bloating
• problems sleeping
• feeling tired or sleepy, yawning
• blocked nose
• a rise in blood pressure
• difficulty concentrating
• shaking or trembling
• lower interest in sex
• ringing in the ears
• blurred vision
• indigestion
• dry mouth

Side effect occurrence does not only depend on medication you are taking, but also on your overall health and other factors.

Contraindications

Do not take Duralast® if you are allergic to Dapoxetine, other SSRI antidepressants or to any ingredients of the medication.

Do not take Duralast® if you are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) for depression, other antidepressants, thioridazine used for schizophrenia, lithium for bipolar disorder, linezolid, tryptophan, St. John’s wort, tramadol, drugs for migraine, antifungals (ketoconazole and itraconazole), medications for HIV (ritonavir, saquinavir, nelfinavir and atazanavir).

Do not take Duralast® if you have epilepsy, a history of bleeding or blood clotting problems, kidney problems, glaucoma.

Be careful with Duralast® if you have heart issues, cardiovascular disease or a history of heart attacks, liver or kidney disorders, low blood pressure (hypotension).

Avoid alcohol consumption when taking Duralast®, as it may cause dizziness, sleepiness and having slow reactions.

Do not drive or operate machinery while taking Duralast®.

Do not take Duralast® if you have a history of fainting, mania (feeling overexcited, irritable or not being able to think clearly) or severe depression.

Duralast® is not for use in women, children or adolescents under age 18 years.
