Sildalis® is a strong combination drug, consisting of two active ingredients - Tadalafil and Sildenafil citrate.
Both components belong to the drug class of PDE5 inhibitors, which work by releasing of nitric oxide (NO) in the body. The nitric oxide dilates the blood vessels, increases blood flow to the penile area and thus induces an erection.
The half-life of Sildalis® is about 15 hours. This allows men choose a proper time for the sexual intercourse as well as prolong it.
Sildalis® doesn't protect you and your partner from sexually transmitted diseases (including HIV) and from pregnancy.
Dosage
Sildalis® should be taken once a day, 30 minutes to 1 hour before sex.
The effect of Sildalis® tablet lasts up to 36 hours.
Sildalis® is best taken on an empty stomach, as fatty meals, grapefruit juice and alcohol can interfere with the effectiveness of the medication.
Do not take more than 1 tablet of Sildalis® per day.
Missing a dose
Sildalis® is used only when needed, herefore missed dosages are not relevant. However, you shouldn't take more than a doctor's recommended dose, and not more than one tablet in 24 hours.
Overdose
If an overdose occurs and you are not feeling well, you should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately.
Storage
Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F) and away from excess moisture and heat. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date. Keep out of the reach of children.
Side effects
Sildalis® has side effects. The most common are:
- headache
- facial flushing
- upset stomach
- diarrhea
- dizziness
- hyperacidity and heartburn
Sometimes you can experience:
- bluish vision
- blurred vision
- sensitivity to light
- drop in blood pressure
Side effect occurrence does not only depend on medication you are taking, but also on your overall health and other factors.
Contraindications
Do not take Sildalis® if you are allergic to Sildalis® components.
Do not take Sildalis® if you are also using organic nitrates, nitrate drug for chest pain or heart condition (e.g. nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, and isosorbide mononitrate), nitrates as amyl nitrate or nitrite ("poppers").
Do not take Sildalis® if you take other medication to treat erectile dysfunction, pulmonary arterial hypertension, such as riociguat (Adempas).
Do not take Sildalis® in you are taking erythromycin, medicines called alpha-blockers, ketoconazole, itraconazole (Sporanox or Nizoral), ritonavir (Norvir) or indinavir (Crixivan).
Try not to consume alcohol while using Sildalis®, as it can lower your blood pressure.
